Lucknow's first 'Gene Bank' will be established in the Gomti Bio-Diversity Park. The construction and operation of this specialized lab will be carried out under the supervision of experts from Amity University. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has signed an agreement with Amity University for this project.
LDA Vice-Chairman Prathamesh Kumar has given the green light for the construction of the Gene Bank by signing the MoU document.

Project Details and Scope :
Land Reclamation: The LDA has reclaimed 75 acres of green belt land that was previously leased to the Sahara Group.
First Phase: In the first phase, a Bio-Diversity Park is being developed across 25 acres of this land at a cost of ₹14 crore.
Current Status: Work on the Bio-Diversity Park is progressing rapidly, and the civil work is nearly complete.
Gene Bank Area: The 'Gene Bank' will be built within the park, spanning an area of approximately 2 acres.
Educational and Ecological Impact :
Through this Gene Bank in the Gomti Bio-Diversity Park, students will receive training in biodiversity. To facilitate this, field biologists and other experts will be deployed in the lab with the cooperation of Amity University. Students and visitors coming to the park will be introduced to biodiversity through detailed information about plants, birds, animals, and insects. As a result, this park will prove to be significant not only for eco-tourism but also from an educational perspective.
